LETTERS FROM OUR FORUM
Pete and Nikki, goodness I missed quite a lot of the letters on here.. but reading what Carol said about meat ect, has shocked me.
How can they get away with this? But they do, shame on these individuals ! Thankyou for making me more aware of what I eat, and it will be from the butchers from now on ! x

REGARDING PETE'S WOODLAND GARDEN
Dear Pete and Nikki.Just spent a couple of days on your website and discovered I am part of the Family. I found it interesting, and heartening. It's always nice to be reminded that I am not alone in my thinking and doing.
Signed some petitions and shared them on my Facebook page, Lyn Swan-Ellison.
Loved the photos of the woodland garden as it was, at it's prettiest. It is much wilder now, not as colourful but still a sanctuary for lots of wildlife and a lovely peaceful place to find on the edge of Blackpool. I feeI it was auspicious to meet the creator of my favourite place there on Beltane, May 1st. The local pagans are having a Beltane celebration picnic there on Saturday, I'm meeting them this evening and we'll be hoping for some nice weather on Saturday. You were honoured with a beautiful day for your visit so it was looking, and sounding, it's best for you.
The rhodedendrons are just coming out in my garden so the woodland ones should be out in a couple of weeks. I will send you photos.
Best wishes and love from
Lyn, and Tara, woof.
Blackpool, Lancs

SAVE OUR SEEDS!
Hi Pete
Just a note to say hello and how are things. I am involved with lots of things at my work including raising awareness about Monsanto and their take over of seed supplies and genetic engineering. I wonder if you heard about the new law the UK govt wants to introduce to control seeds and plants? I hope a lot of people oppose that, and it never gets passed.
Thank you for all you do in your little part of the world, we need more like you!

COMMENTS ON PETE & NIKKI'S AMAZING BLACKPOOL ADVENTURESDear Pete
You are like John and Yoko in the 'Imagine' documentary. John expressed the view that, as a Beatle, it was important that he recorded, filmed and documented his life, just like you and Nikki.
This is a compliument to both you and Nikki. You have quite certainly given The Beatles a run for their money, and 'fame'! Well done to both of you, I am proud of you, and all that you have achieved, and have done for people throughout your life.
Keep up the good work,
Spencer 'Roy' Aitkin
and Harry the dog.

COMMENT ON PETE'S CLIMATE CHANGE PREDICTIONS
Pete, I seem to remember that you were talking about all this severe weather that we are having, and climate change a few years ago.
Lucy Diana Willson, Stevenage
PETE'S REPLY: Yes Lucy, you are quite right. I first became aware than Mankind was ruining the environment when I was 8 years old, soon after World War II in 1945.
I then went to talk about it in cartoon strips in my weekly school comic, The KK, when I was 12 years old. (see comic strip frame on the right)
From the early Sixties, when a few publications started taking me seriously, I wrote about Climate Change in several horticultural, nature and countryside magazines, and a few local and national newspapers. My two environmental books were published in 2005.
Good Friday is coming up, and there has been snow on the ground since the beginning of March - something's happening!

RESPONSE TO CAROL HAWKES' LETTER(Below)
Dear Pete & Nikki,
In response to Carol's letter, this is the exact reason why I only buy meat from the local butchers or farm shop now. Our meat is being injected with all sorts of things, to make it look plumper, and last longer on the shelves of our supermarkets.
I advise everyone to buy only from the butchers now, , as you really do get top quality meat at a good price
Deborah Johnston,
Pete & Nikki's Reply: We agree Deb. We now buy all our meat fresh from our local butchers at The Oval, Stevenage. It tastes better, and goes further.
CAROL'S ORIGINAL LETTER...
Dear Pete & Nikki,
Not only are we killing bees with chemicals, but they feed the chickens with antibiotics. We eat the chickens and we end up with problems making us immune to antibiotics.
I have had a reoccurring bladder infection, after 4 years of antibiotic treatment every month, but it keeps coming back.
We have now found I have E Coli in my bladder that the usual antibiotics used for bladder infection will not touch, due to eating chickens and meat!
We are ruining our health and our planet!

Responses to ROE and MUNTJAC DEER SPOTTED IN STEVENAGE
* * * * *
| | | | We regularly get Muntjac in our garden Pete. Our garden backs onto Alleyns School playing fields, but I think they get in via the road at the front of the house, Rectory lane. |
DELIA CAMPBELL Stevenage, Herts Pete's Comment: Yes, I know the area well Delia. My grandson Connor goes to Alleyns. * * * * * * As you know Pete, I used to live in Monkswood and worked at Knebworth House. Most of the Muntjak are escapees from Knebworth and made their home in Monkswood, where they can find an abundant supply of food. On the other hand, the Roe Deer is a Native and also lives in Monkswood, the house I had backed onto the woods and I had the pleasure of these and many other animals as visitors in my garden. Many people do not realise what a wonderful array of wildlife is just on their doorstep. As you also know the woodland in Stevenage is also home to some rare and beautiful plant life as well. Frank Swaine Stevenage, Herts PETE'S COMMENT: Absolutely Frank. I have often written about Stevenage wildlife over the years. |

Pete & Nikki's Comment: That's very us Hilary, so we got RICH SMYTH to picture it (See Above - you would need to have seen Nikki & Pete on 'John Bishop's Britain' to fully appreciate the joke)
What about Centre Parcs Nr. Lakenheath?
David Strutt,
Stevenage, Herts UK
Pete & Nikki's Comment: Back to nature eh? Suits us!
Hi Granddad & Nikki
Whale watching sounds good.
How about skiing in Switzerland? I’m sure you’d be quite agile on skis… Erm, - I mean (Fr)agile!
BTW, - was space as good as it’s made out to be?
Rikky Joy
Stevenage, Herts UK
Pete& Nikki’s reply: Nah – no atmosphere!
Space, the final frontier...
Rich Smyth

Pete & Nikki's Reply:
(Rich has done a mock-up. above, of what we'd look like in space)
Dear Pete and Nikki
What about taking a balloon trip over your house in Stevenage, and over Knebworth House, where you got married?
You could share it with us with photos and videos.
Tom Barton
Chalfont St Peter
Bucks, UK
Pete & Nikki's Reply: Good idea Tom, - maybe we could drop in on you (or maybe not!) As long as you don't think we're full of hot air?
Hello Nikki & PeteHow about a spot of whale watching? That would be quite spectacular.
Maybe you could see some dolphins, and even go down in a bathysphere to visit the fishes in the deep?
Love from
Haflid Knutson
Oslo, Norway
Pete & Nikki's Reply: Brilliant idea Haflid, - We could have a whale of a time, and it would suit our porpoise admirably.
Hallo you two,
Try inner space, caves or potholing tin mines???
Good luck
John Burrage
Plymouth, Devon
Pete & Nikki's Reply: Inner Space? Outer Space? We have enough trouble finding a Parking Space, John! Seriously though, our old mate Frank Swaine is an expert on potholing - see Frank's suggestion below!
Pete & Nikki, What about visiting 'Butterfly World' in St Albans. They are planning a biodome for next year, with a natural setting, predators and even Aztec artefacts.
It would almost be like a tropical adventure.
By The Way, does your list include Coventry!
I bet there is a queue of people that want you to go there, me not included I might add LOL
Frank Swaine
Stevenage
Herts, UK
Pete & Nikki's Reply: That sounds good, - and local too! We may flutter by there next year... (See picture of Frank's wife Sured at The Butterfly Farm).
As for being sent to Coventry Frank, - Yes, I am sure there are lots of Local Councillors, Politicians, Church Dignitaries and loads more 'Horroficials' (as we used to call them in the Family), that would love to ex-communicate us, - but we're gonna be around for A LONG TIME YET! lol!
(See 'Horroficial', above in the form of Parky, from Pete's cartoon strip 'High Street Blues')
Hi Pete & Nikki
How about a tour of The French Vinyards?
Kev Cooke

Pete & Nikki's Reply: Sounds good to us Kev - as long as we get to sample the finished products - we'll definitely drink to THAT!
