Remember, I actually lived through WW11 in Walthamstow, and was scared out of my wits cowering in our Anderson shelter as bombs dropped from overhead, 'Doodlebugs landed at random, and there were constant dog-fights in the skies above. I would have done ANYTHING to escape!
Do you actually expect people who are being persecuted in their own country, - not only by the enemy (The arms of which we supplied remember) but also by their own authorities, to really have the time, let alone the know-how, to seek asylum? It would almost certainly be turned down anyway!
the same applies to the idea of them seeking the proper immigration visas and paperwork. DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY HAVE THE TIME CONSIDERING HOW LONG THE PROCESS TAKES, WHILST YOU ARE FLEEING FOR YOUR LIFE AS GUN BATTLES ARE TAKING PLACE ON THE STREETS?
We don't think so!
The problem we have found with modern civilisation is that we, in our comfortable homes, with our colour tellies, computers, cars, etc. have lost all compassion for the plight of people who are less fortunate than themselves. as long as we have a stress-free life, we don't really want to know about the problems of others.
I have also experienced extreme poverty, when I had trouble feeding Deborah and Vivien, let alone myself, and were treated by many as lepers, as though it was our fault for being poor. Well, hello! Now that we have been seen on TV and films, and have a website. I have run several magazines and written books, - we are suddenly accepted by society!
OH MY! What a fickle and selfish society we live in!
So what is the answer? Send them all back to their countries (deportation) so that they get killed (including the children we saw) either by bombs and guns in the war zone or by TRUE criminals - well, we wouldn't have the problem any more then, would we?
That's the cynical way of putting it!
As I have said for many many years (and Nikki is 100% with me on all of this) I don't see any countries, borders, patriotism, - only ONE WORLD, which we all inhabit, so The Human Race really needs to grow up and realise that we are all citizens of this planet. That is what the ever-growing MOTF is all about.
If we opened up all borders in every country and allowed free movement for everyone across the planet, we wouldn't have any of these problems, - and that is not being naive, - it is being sensible, which is sadly lacking in the Human Race in general.
Love, Peace & Happiness,
Pete & Nikki Perry
Hi Pete, no I don’t consider MOTF to be silly, far from it.
Any form of communication through the people, for the people, that attempts to enlighten and look after the people, be it through internet forum, magazine or private organisation can only be a good thing. It highlights the power behind freedom of speech and simply encourages those who may not usually speak out, to have a voice. On a basic level if it only makes people think, it’s still a good thing. Blimey....you see, you made me say all that!!
Why would anyone think it was silly? It gives anyone around the world the chance to have the feeling of belonging and be part of something for nothing in return. What's silly about that?

You are great together and a wonderful, living example to others. In addition you are both an example of those who never give in, and totally ignore bigots! Bless you both!"

Some might judge on age gaps however all I could see is
that you were very much in love and happy and perhaps the people that judge just crave what you have.
